The devastated family of a missing Fraserburgh man have made a heartbreaking plea for his safe return.

Shaun Ritchie has not been seen since late on Sunday night and police have today entered the fourth day of their search for the 20-year-old.

His family have said how the last six days have been a “nightmare” and have urged anyone who might know where he is to help them find him.

“With every passing day we’re becoming more and more worried about Shaun,” they said.

“We all love him dearly and the last six days have been a nightmare, for all his family and friends, not knowing where he is.

“If anyone knows anything about where Shaun is, if they saw him last Friday night or since then, we’d ask them please, please get in touch with the police and give them any information you may have.”

Mr Ritchie was last seen between Strichen and the A98 Fraserburgh to Banff Road on Friday.

He was wearing dark grey skinny jeans, a white t-shirt, a grey hoodie and brown trainers.

Community Policing Inspector George Cordiner said that as the hours and days pass, their concern was growing for Mr Ritchie’s safety.

“Our search for Shaun continues involving a number of specialist resources including the marine unit and search dogs,” he said.

“We’d also like to ask people living in and around the area to check garden sheds or outhouses or areas where someone might have taken shelter.

“We’re appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have about Shaun’s whereabouts. We’re asking people to think back to last Friday night and into the early hours of Saturday morning.

“If you were driving on the A98 Fraserburgh to Strichen Road did you see Shaun? If so please come forward with that information.”
