EastEnders star Scott Maslen has said he is still “waiting to hear” when he will return to filming.

The actor, 48, told The One Show he was missing the friends he worked with on the BBC One soap.

He said: “The routine, really. I’m so used to the grind. It ain’t a grind really, it’s a great place to work. I’m missing all my friends.”

Referring to updated Government guidelines, he added: “I think something came out today or yesterday regarding they are advising we can go back.

“So I imagine it will be on that frontline of the first ones to go back. I’m waiting to hear, really.”

On-site production of the broadcaster’s continuing dramas – including Casualty, Holby City and Doctors – was paused in March in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The BBC has been showing less episodes of EastEnders a week to make the already filmed shows last as long as possible.

Maslen debuted as smooth-talking Jack Branning in 2007.

He appeared on The One Show to discuss how he and a group of friends have been cooking meals for NHS staff in their own kitchens.

Maslen held back tears after being shown a video of a healthcare worker who had received his meals.
