Hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield had to open the door for the singer and The Voice coach, who was unable to let himself out. When Murs later said his “love life isn’t the best” Schofield joked any admirers would be put off to see “he can’t get out of a van”. Murs added the X Factor needed a reboot. “It does need a little bit of a break from what it was doing,” he said. “Simon has seen that and I’m glad he has. I watch it like everyone else and felt something is not clicking right, so it does need a break.” Cowell has suggested he intends to introduce a celebrity version of The X Factor along with a show with former contestants.
