Dancing On Ice star Donna Air launches appeal for missing skates

Dancing On Ice contestant Donna Air is trying to “see the funny side” after her skates were stolen just days before she competes on the show.

The presenter, 38, said the skates were “moulded to her feet” and “impossible to replace” and disappeared after her car was broken into while she was at the gym.

She told her fans that she spent two hours searching for the skates nearby and that there would be a reward for anyone who finds them.

Air, who will be taking to the rink on Sunday, later wrote on Twitter that she was “keeping things in perspective and I guess you have to see the funny side!

“With everything going on in the world this is obviously no big deal. Just a bit of a panic! I will be fine and the show will go on as always,” she said.

Fellow contestant Jake Quickenden launched an appeal on social media to find the skates, saying in a video: “Getting new boots ready for Sunday is going to be tough so I’m hoping that people can just help and try and find the bag with the skates in.”

The former Byker Grove actress wrote: “I’m sure the thief would have dumped them somewhere as of no use to anyone but me.”

Her skating partner Mark Hanretty later said “poor Donna” was “upset” but they were going to do some “skate shopping” now.

The return of the ice skating spectacular to TV screens, at the weekend, after a four-year hiatus drew an overnight audience of 7.4 million viewers.

Last weekend, six of the skaters performed and Candice Brown got the lowest score meaning she is in the first skate-off.
