The latest contestant to get the boot from The Apprentice has said he is not proud of referring to two of his rivals as “doughnuts”.
Kayode Damali said he regrets his comments about Tom Bunday and Sabrina Stocker in the boardroom after their team lost an urban gardening challenge.
Sparring with Bunday, Damali pointed out he outsold him on a previous task in which they made doughnuts.
When Lord Sugar said that was not what they were discussing, Damali replied: “You might be talking about doughnuts when you’re dealing with these two.”
Speaking after he was fired from the show, he told the Press Association: “That is not my finest hour, it’s not something that I’m proud of. It’s not good.
“It was snide comments back to the teacher, it’s not needed.
“I hold my hands up, I’m not perfect and I don’t ever try to put across that I am and I just know I’ve got to hold my tongue sometimes.”
The professional speaker, 26, from Cheshire, said he is now hoping to embark on a speaking tour, saying: “I do speeches in schools, colleges, universities or for young offenders and other young people, and I’ve had a lot of requests recently.
“So if the demand is there and people want me to then I would love to go on the road and speak to and inspire as many people as I can.
“As you could probably imagine they see me on The Apprentice and like who I am and say: Oh my god can you come and speak at our school? – especially young people.
“The amount of DMs (direct messages) I have had of: Please can you come to our school?”
Damali denied he entered the show to raise his profile, saying: “Without a shadow of a doubt it was to win.
“I wanted to win the process hence why I feel so burnt now.
“I’m not going to say: That was fun. Cool, I’ve got a profile now. That wasn’t the case at all, it was without a shadow of a doubt to win it.”
