Limousins sold to a top of 8,500gn yesterday when the reserve overall champion went under the hammer.
Averages were up on the year with 40 bulls selling to £4,945, compared with 43 averaging £4,552 last year.
British Limousin Cattle Society chief executive, Iain Kerr, said the sale had been driven by commercial trade.
The sale topper – Goldies Lancelot – was put forward by Bruce Goldie at Townfoot, Mouswald, Dumfries.
On his first outing, he is one of the first crop of bulls to be sold by the 38,000gn Foxhillfarm Irishlad. His dam – Goldies Vitality – is mother to the 23,000gn Goldies Comet and 21,000gn Goldies Goldfinger.
He sold yesterday to Messrs Richardson, Archbank Farm.
The Goldie family also sold Goldies Black Lark, by Goldies Fortress, for 6,200gn to Messrs Johnston at Orton Hall.
Next best at 8,200gn was a second-prize winning lot from Andrew Burnett, of Upper Spittalton, Blair Drummond.
March-2015 born Spittalton Lewis, by Maraiscote Gigolo, sold to J.A. Lambie and Son, of Loanhead of Duchally, Auchterarder.
Spittalton also sold to 7,200gn for a Dinmore Hitman daughter named Liam. This one sold to M.J. Agnew, Little Airies, Kirkcolm.
Another Spittalton entry – Spittalton Loader by Netherhall Gallant – sold for 6,500gn to M. and A. Lennie, Seaview, Sanday, Orkney.
The overall champion, as judged by Jonathan Aiken of Dromore, Northern Ireland, sold for 7,000gn.
On his first outing from Archie MacGregor’s Allanfauld herd at Kilsyth, near Glasgow, Allanfauld Ludo is the first son to be sold from Knockcroghery Hero. He sold to W. J. and P Mackenzie, Hilton Farm, Tain, Ross-shire.
Another lot at 7,000gn was a second-prize winning bull from the Irvine family at Braehead Farm, Drummuir, Keith.
Anside Looper is one of the first sons to be sold from Powerful Irish. He sold to A and M Robertson, Ballycurrie Farm, Rothesay.
Other leading prices included 6,500gn for a fifth-prize winning lot from Stuart Fotheringham’s Ballinloan herd at Dunkeld, Perth.
Ballinloan Lorenzo, by Ampertaine Foreman, sold to P. Kemp, Derwent House, County Durham.
The Graham dairying family from Airthrey Kerse at Bridge of Allan, sold to a top of 6,000gn
Grahams Leopard, by Diablo and out of Grahams Coffee which has bred sons up to 40,000gn, sold to Peter Alexander of Mains of Mause, Blairgowrie.
Females sold to a top of 5,000gn for a heifer from the Goldies herd. Goldies Jackie, by Goldies Fantastic, sold to Messrs Egg, Lincoln.
The Adam family of Newhouse of Glamis, by Forfar, sold to a top of 2,400gn, while Andrew Burnett’s Spittalton herd sold to a top of 3,000gn.
