Texel leads Highland Ladies sheep sale

Pedigree female sheep sold to a top of 3,700gn at the Highland Ladies sale in Dingwall.

The show and sale of MV accredited pedigree female sheep was organised by Dingwall and Highland Marts.

Leading the sale was the reserve Texel champion from the pre-sale show, as judged by Stephen Sutherland of Sibmister and Stainland Farms in Thurso.

Put forward by Mr K. Jarvie who runs Duncryne flock at Cherryfield, Muthill, Crieff, this daughter of Stainton Vigilante, carrying a single to Knap You’re The Man, sold for 3,700gn.

The Texel champion – an Aman Vyrnway sired gimmer carrying a single to Glenside Wild Boy – was put forward by Robbie Wilson, who runs the Milnbank flock at North Dorlaithers, Turriff. She sold for 2,100gn.

In the Beltex section, the champion rosettes were given to an Airyolland Sovereign sired gimmer from the Douglas family’s Beechcross flock at Braes of Coulmore, North Kessock. Carrying twins to Clary Bandit, she sold for 350gn.

Standing reserve in the Beltex section was a Kingledore Rebel sired gimmer from John Scott at Fear Farm, Tain. In-lamb with twins to Loandhu Wallas, she sold for 300gn.

Lastly, in the Suffolk section the champion title went to an entry from the dispersal of the Didcot flock, consigned by K. Hourston, Skelbister, Stromness, Orkney.

The Balquhain Bargain sired ewe sold carrying twins to Lakeview Looks The Part for 1,000gn.

Reserve in the Suffolks pens went to a Muirton One Direction sired gimmer from Jim Innes’ Strathbogie flock at Dunscroft, Huntly. Carrying twins to Lakeview No Limits, she sold for 1,000gn.

In all, Dingwall and Highland Marts sold 98 entries.
