Here’s a list of all the breed champions from this year’s New Deer Show:

CATTLE

Aberdeen-Angus: M. Bruce and Partners, Mains of Logie, Ellon, with home-bred August-2013 born bull Logie Robroy, by Blelack Evril and out of Logie Rosebell. He was second at the Highland and will be sold at Stirling in October. Reserve: M. Bruce and Partners, with home-bred cow Logie Lady with her nine-month-old heifer calf at food, by Blelack Lord Hildalgo. Lady is by Nightingale Poledark. All three beasts were shown by Andrew and James Reid and Paul Leeming.

Charolais: Robert Leggat, Mormond Prop, New Pitsligo, Fraserburgh, with yearling heifer Bonnykelly Jennifer, by Kersknowe Clansman and out of Thrunton Ella. She was on her first outing. Reserve – Mike Massie, Mains of Elrick, Auchnagatt, Ellon, with home-bred April-2014 born bullock Elrick Jupiter, by the 16,000gn Thrunton Fearless and out of Elrick Aileen which has bred bulls to 11,000gn. He will be sold in Stirling in October.

Limousin: Mike Massie, with home-bred young bull Elrick Jethro, by the 22,000gn Rahoney Geoffrey and out of Elrick Fiona. He was previously unshown. Reserve – Garry Patterson, Upper Forgie, Aultmore, Keith, with home-bred December-2014 born bull calf Aultside Jacobite, by Ampertaine Elgin and out of Trueman Hallelujah. He won best Limousin calf at Echt last week.

British Blonde: Alison Watt, Birkenburn, Keith, with home-bred six-year-old cow Strathisla Ellen, by a French bull called Super and out of Strathisla April. She was first in her class at Echt last week. Reserve – Alison Watt, with home-bred March-2015 born heifer calf Strathisla Laura, by Freefield Gopal and out of Strathisla Ellen. She was breed champion at Echt.

Simmental: Jimmy and Iain Green, Corskie, Garmouth, Fochabers, with the 45,000gn bull Bel Dhu Capercaillie. Bred by Billy and Anne Macpherson, of Blackford, Croy, Inverness, this one is by Hockenhull Waterloo and out of Blackford Wagtail. He was bought by the Greens in Stirling in February 2013 and holds the UK record for the highest priced Simmental. He was breed champion and beef interbreed champion at last week’s Echt Show. Reserve – Jimmy and Iain Green, with heifer Corskie Emerald, by Dirnanean Bradley and out of Corskie Jools 2. She was reserve at Echt.

Highland: Ian and Mary Adams, 24 Beech Tree Road, Banchory, with two-year-old heifer Frangag Dubh of Cladich. Bred by Mr Jon H. Strickland and bought in Oban in October 2013 for 2,400gn, she is by Seonaidh Mor of Ardura and out of Frangag Donn 10th of Torloist. She was champion at Echt and reserve at Angus. Reserve – Jim Fraser, East Tilbouries, Maryculter, Aberdeen, with three-year-old heifer Mollaig 7th of Benmeanach, by Torquil Dealbach of Ubhaidh and out of Mollaig of Benmeanach. Bred by Anna Taylor in Bute, she was bought as a calf at Oban and shown successfully as a yearling.

Cross: Blair Duffton and Rebecca Stuart, of 2 Bogie Street, Huntly, with 19-month-old Limousin cross heifer Lady Moo Moo. Bought at the Thainstone Spectacular in September last year for £3,800, this one is by Haltcliffe Donny and bred by Grant Morrison, Newtack, Keith. She was cross champion at Angus and supreme champion of champions at Fettercairn. Reserve – Mark Robertson and Sarah Balfour of Easter Fodderletter, Tomintoul, Ballindalloch, with 14-month-old Charolais cross heifer Lady May. Bred by Ian Stewart at Reisgill, she was bought at the spring-born calf sale at Quoybrae in October 2014 for £820. She was young farmers champion at the Rising Stars show at Thainstone last year.

Any other continental breed – Garry Patterson with a home-bred British Blue yearling bull Aultmore Jumbo, by Gregmaur Osman and out of Neterdale Deva. He was British Blue champion at Echt last week.

Any other native breed – Alison Watt with home-bred Shorthorn heifer Strathisla Trixy, by Chapelton Winsome and out of Grandtullybrae Yantara Trixy. She was first in her class at Echt. Reserve – Alison Watt with home-bred cow Yantara Trixy.

Young handlers – Richard Davidson. Reserve – Jessica Massie.

HORSES

Clydesdale: Norman Christie, Woodside Croft, Kinellar, with home-bred March-2009 born mare Anguston Amber. Shown by Mark Noble, she is by Old Greenlaw Lochy and out of Anguston Amy. This was her fifth breed championship win at New Deer. Reserve – Ian and George Young, Wellheads, Clochan, Buckie, with home-bred 10-year-old mare Arradoul Symphony, by Collessie Whinhill President and out of Arradoul Bryony. She was shown with her filly foal at foot – Arradoul Ceilidh – which is by Redcastle Brelee Majestic. She won the brood mare championship at the Royal Highland Show last month.

Highland: Sarah Macintosh, 15, of Greyhead, Peterhead, with six-year-old mare Overhall Chick, by Torrin of Whitefield. Reserve – Gordon and Ann Towns, Easdale, Turriff, with home-bred five-year-old yeld mare Tannah of Forglen, by Highfield Glen Affric and out of Hannah of Forglen. She was champion at Strathbogie this year and reserve at the Northern Working Horse Show.

Shetland: Harry Sleigh, St John’s Wells, Fyvie, with nine-year-old stallion West Park Royal Star. Bred by Marjorie Martin, this one is by West Park Rising Star and out of West Park Emerald. He was champion at the Highland and breed champion, native pony champion and reserve overall horse at last year’s New Deer Show. Reserve – Ian Spence and Sue Pye, Tillychetly Cottage, Alford, with April-2010 born mare Ladbury Evangeline with her first filly foal – Warrackstone Eve, by Strauss of Auckholm – at foot. Bred in Wales by the Griffiths family, the mare is by Millhouse Independent and out of Lakehead Evangeline. She was first at Echt the week before.
SHEEP

Texel: W.J. Knox, Mid Haddo, Fyvie, with a ewe by Strathbogie Smokey Blue. Won third prize Texel ewe at Highland Show 2015. Reserve – A.C.Lee and Co, Feurdies, Fraserburgh, with shearling tup Fachell Victor on first outing. Purchased in Carlisle in 2014.

Young Handlers: Erin Duncan. Reserve – Grant Dalgarno.

Suffolk: Gordon Troup, Shaggart, Sauchen, with a homebred gimmer by Baileys Rock Solid out of a ewe by Cairness Liam. She was interbreed champion at Echt Show 2015 and third at the Highland. Reserve – G. Christie, Birchfield, Glass, Huntly, with a gimmer by Strathisla Speed.

Charollais: E. and E. Duncan, Braemuir, Auchnagatt, Ellon, with December-born tup lamb from 2013 by Ffrwd Lord of the Ring from home-bred ewe. It secured the Charollais champion at New Deer in 2014. Reserve – Wendy Willox, Home Farm, Druminoir, Rhynie, with a tup lamb by Cannahnrs Gironimo and out of a home-bred ewe.

Any other breed: Samantha Stewart, Buttery Brae, Drummuir, Keith, with a Zwartbles tup by Aquial Action Man and from a home-bred ewe. Won Scottish Tup of the Year 2014. Reserve – Patricia Imlah, Wood Cottages, Kingseat, with Rouge ewe Bennachie Nordica, a gimmer by Broadwood Jason out of Bennachie Fanfar. First prize gimmer at Highland Show 2014.

Blue Faced Leicester: M. Seed and Son, Home Farm, Auchry, Cuminestown, with a home-bred gimmer by Cassington D1 on her first outing. Reserve – M. Seed and Son with a home-bred shearling tup by Craig Y Orsedd E1 on first outing.

Beltex: R. and K. Williams, Upper Tullochbeg, Huntly, with a shearling tup by Todd Hall Superstar out of home-bred magnus. Reserve – Colin G. Mair and Partner, Muirfield, Everton of Auchry, with a ewe lamb on her first outing, by 6,000gn ram Corstane Whistler and from a home-bred ewe.

Cross-bred singles: W. and J. Brown, Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, Turriff, with a Texel cross ewe lamb by a home-bred Texel ram and out of Texel cross Cheviot mule ewe on her first outing. Reserve – Michie/Anderson, St Congans Circle, Turriff, with a home-bred Texel tup out of a cross ewe. Won at Echt Show.

Cheviot: Sheena and John Marshall, 15 Ferguson Crescent, Mintlaw, with a gimmer on her first outing, which was bred in Orkney and bought at Thainstone. Reserve – John Cruickshank, Main Street, New Deer, with a ewe bought as a gimmer from a special ewe sale at Lairg.

Cross and half-bred pens: W. and J. Brown, Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, Turriff, with a Texel cross gimmer by a home-bred Texel sire out of a Texel cross Cheviot ewe. Reserve: Colin Scott, Westerbiffie, Maud, with Texel Cross out of Suffolk cross half-bred ewe. Champion in pens of three at Echt 2015.

Any rare or horned breed: W. and J. Brown, Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, Turriff, with an Oxford Down tup lamb out of a home-bred ewe. Reserve – Marianne Sheed, Aldinnie, Essie Crescent, Rhynie, with a Poll Dorset ewe lamb out of home-bred ewe by first prize aged tup.

Jacob: A. Christie, Birchfield, Midtown of Glass, Huntly, with Blackbrook Dragon, reserve champion at New Deer last year and champion at Grantown 2014. Reserve – J. Milton, Newton of Auchnindachy, Keith, with Carrolswood Cassius by Hindshaw Ryan and out of a Hope ewe. Reserve champion at Fettercairn Show 2015.

Prime lambs on hoof: W. and J. Brown, Hilton of Culsh, New Deer, with a Texel cross lamb by a home-bred Texel out of a Texel cross Cheviot mule ewe. Reserve – A.W. Wilson, Westfield of Cairncake, with A1 Genetics.

Overall group of three: R. and K. Williams, Upper Tullochbeg, Huntly, with group of three Beltex. Reserve – E. and E. Duncan, Braemuir, Auchnagatt, with group of three Charollais.
