Export advice roadshow heading for the Highlands

The Export Hub roadshow.
The Export Hub roadshow.

A roadshow offering free advice on exporting to local companies is visiting three Highland locations as part of a Scottish tour

Visitors to the Export Hub truck will be able to get tips from experts on how and where  to sell overseas and meet experienced exporters.

The tour is a UK Government initiative backed by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE), Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Council for Development and Industry.

Its ports of call are Loch Fyne Oysters, Cairndow, Argyll, on Monday 29 August, Sabhal Mor Ostaig, Sleat, on Skye, on Wednesday 29 August, and Inverness Campus on Friday 2 Spetember.

Martin Johnson, HIE’s regional head of international trade and investment, “Exporting is a theme that runs across the commercial sector in the Highlands and Islands and there is huge potential to build on that. Indeed it is essential that we do.

“The dramatic increase in digital connectivity in the region is enabling more and more businesses to connect with global markets more easily. The Export Hub offers businesses a chance to explore new opportunities to market their products and services overseas.”

The roadshow is part of the Exporting is GREAT campaign, launched in November 2015, and the Export Hub truck has already visited Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Edinburgh.

Scotland Office Minister Lord Dunlop said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Scottish firms to get the support they need to start exporting and grow their businesses.

“The Exporting is GREAT roadshow is taking the message to businesses right across Scotland that the demand for their products and services is there, as is the help they need to make exporting happen.”

The truck will be open 11am-4pm at each venue and anyone wishing to visit can register through the Scottish Enterprise website.
