Entries are now open to find successes and examples of excellence in the fields of human resources, recruitment and training in the north east of Scotland.

The deadline to enter Scotland’s top awards scheme celebrating excellence in the fields of human resources, recruitment and training has been extended due to high demand.

Entrants have been urged to sign up now to win at the cHeRries Awards 2017, which is hosted in association with Robert Gordon University’s Aberdeen Business School and supported by Mattioli Woods.

There are nine categories at the cHeRies 2017 seeking examples of successes and distinction from professionals and teams working in the north east of Scotland and beyond.

The deadline is now Monday 13 February.

Organisers have also revealed that Scottish funny man Fred MacAulay will be returning to host the awards while keeping the audience at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Center (AECC) entertained.

After a decade working as an accountant, Mr MacAulay took the plunge into comedy and is now one of the most popular stand-ups on the circuit. His gentle sarcasm and intelligent, wry observations entertain audiences both north and south of the border.

Mr MacAulay, who is well known for regular stand-up comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe as well as appearances on popular television programmes such as Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, last year kept the 450 people attending the glittering awards ceremony in stitches while ensuring the smooth handling out of awards.

Mr MacAulay said: “I’m delighted to have been asked back to host the cHeRries Awards this year.

“Last year’s event was an absolute cracker and it was great to see so many worthy winners picking up their fantastic trophies. I’m really looking forward to entertaining the HR elite again!”

The main event, the cHeRries Awards 2017 take place Thursday 1 June at the AECC.

One of the nine categories at the cHeRries Awards is the Finders Keepers Recruitment & Retention Award.

In this category, judges will be looking for evidence of innovation and bottom line impact through the development of proactive and innovative recruitment strategies.

Entries should set out a clearly defined set of aims and objectives, and set out their link to the overall business strategy. The successful entry will be able to clearly demonstrate how their approach has differentiated them in a highly competitive skills market, and will provide evidence of senior level commitment and involvement in selecting talent for their business. Tangible evidence of the impact on business success will serve to further strengthen the nomination in this category.

Last year, the offshore recruitment team of Amec Foster Wheeler picked up the gong.

Kim Thomson, head of resourcing for the global engineering firm said:“Amec Foster Wheeler won the Recruitment and Retention Award in 2016 and we were absolutely delighted to hear our name called on the night.

“It’s such a wonderful feeling knowing that our efforts have been recognised by the judging panel who themselves are highly respected members of the HR community.

“We would definitely recommend that any company who wishes to say an extra special thank you to their HR teams, puts them forward for a cHeRries Award.”
