The civil construction firm behind the £350million Aberdeen Harbour expansion project will outline opportunities for local firms to join its supply chain at an event in Aberdeen.
Businesses in catering, fencing, civil engineering and environmental services such as waste and recycling have been urged to sign up to attend a “meet the buyer” event with Dragados.
The event is being hosted by Aberdeen City Council at the Town House on Wednesday, 1 February.
Representatives from Dragados, part of the multi-national Spanish engineering giant Actividades de Construcción y Servicios (ACS) Group, will make a presentation on the scope of the work which will create new harbour facilities and associated infrastructure at Nigg Bay, to the south of the existing harbour.
A question and answer session, as well as the option of one-to-one meetings with some of the company’s category managers, will also be included on Wednesday’s programme.
Councillor Ross Grant, Aberdeen City Council transport and regeneration spokesman. said: “The Aberdeen Harbour expansion will have a significant role to play in the city’s future, supporting the existing role as a global energy hub and encouraging diversification and expansion in areas such as tourism.
“Once completed the project will be vital to the economic aims for the region – but it will also have an immediate impact, with the construction phase creating work for the local supply chain and in turn stimulating employment.
“The forthcoming meet the buyer event presents a chance for those contractors interested in supporting the project to introduce themselves to Dragados and to find out more about the requirements now and further down the line.”
