A Lochaber bakery has its eyes on its pies’ success – for the tasty treats have been picking up gongs for the last 20 years.
This week though, Nevis Bakery struck gold in a top event as its steak pie was judged to be a taste above the rest.
The mouth-watering mouthful scooped first prize in the regional category of the Scottish Baker of The Year Awards.
Owner, Archie Paterson, who formed the company 36 years ago along with wife, Hazel, said his steak pies just keep winning.
“This particular pie has been winning awards in different contests for the past 20 years. In the Scottish Baker of the Year competition in 2016, it won silver, but this time it gained a gold award.
“It’s fantastic to have such success with the steak pie as it has won something every year since this contest started five years ago.”
The award-winning pies – along with other delicious goodies – are produced at the company’s bakery at the Annat industrial estate in Corpach, near Fort William.
Mr Paterson, who is originally from Stornoway, said: “I used to be a chef and the recipe for the steak pie is a traditional family one that I picked up and adapted when I was in the hotel trade.
“We’re just delighted that it has proved to be so popular over the years.”
More than 11,000 customers across Scotland voted for their favourite bakery products across six categories in the competition with 115 bakeries nominated altogether. The winners were announced at a glittering ceremony in Glasgow, hosted by trade association, Scottish Bakers.
