Family-run office supplies firm Langstane said yesterday it had recruited one of the next generation to its boardroom team as it continues to grow its business across Scotland.
Mark Campbell, whose grandfather and great-uncles founded the business 70 years ago, is the company’s new office interiors director.
He plans to uphold traditional family values, while also introducing a “dynamic vision” for the future as the company seeks new opportunities.
Although the oil and gas industry continues to be of key importance to Langstane, the firm has significantly broadened its customer base in recent years.
In addition to opening bases in Dundee and Livingston, it has won contracts to provide both office and patient care furniture to NHS Scotland and is a leading supplier to local authorities and bodies such as the Scottish Prison Service.
It has also secured a four-year framework agreement to deliver and supply education and office furniture to Scotland Excel, the Centre of Procurement Expertise for Scotland’s local government sector.
Mr Campbell has been with Langstane for 24 years after joining straight from school. He has worked across many of the company’s divisions, most recently as office interiors manager.
He said: “I am very proud to be joining my father, Jack Campbell, and Colin Campbell (Jack’s cousin), on the board of directors and to be continuing the family tradition.
“My grandfather and his brothers were great innovators; always one step ahead of the game and anticipating what their customers needed in addition to the services they supplied.
“Langstane has always moved forward and is now at the beginning of another new chapter.
“We have grown the office interiors division into one of our strongest divisions, and I believe there is scope to grow it even further.”
Managing director Colin Campbell said: “After the challenges of the last two years we have been reviewing and restructuring our business on a regular basis.
“We celebrate 70 years in business this year and now that we see some stability and optimism in the market, it is a good time for our family business to show its commitment to the future and to appoint the first of the third generation to the board.
“Mark has been at the forefront of developing our capabilities within the office furniture and interiors market in the north-east, winning major complete installation projects at Prime Four for Apache, Nexen, Transocean and Lloyds Register, who move there this summer.”
Langstane employs 106 people across three locations and turns over £15million annually.
