Dandara pushes forward with business park

Development plans in Aberdeen city South
Development plans in Aberdeen city South

Property developer Dandara is ready to start work on the first buildings at its 40-acre City South business park near Aberdeen.

The roads, services and infrastructure are nearly complete and the next stage of the project, creating an initial 35,000 square feet of office space across five pavilions ranging from 3,500 to 15,000sq ft, is expected to see occupants move in before the end of this year.

City South lies next to the A90 Aberdeen-Dundee road at Portlethen and is close to the proposed new bypass. The site was previously known as Axcess Business Park.

Dandara is developing the office buildings on a speculative basis to satisfy anticipated strong market demand.

Plans for the business park also include a hotel, restaurant, shops and nursery school, as well as leisure facilities such as a gymn, running tracks and sports pitch.

Dandara commercial director Neil Young said: “Demand from the market in the north-east is continuously rising.

“We developed a detailed master plan for City South to ensure we can meet the demands of modern occupiers, and we are now investing more than £10million in taking forward the first phase of that plan at City South.

“Following the completion of the first phase, we have a three-year development plan which will include continued construction of high-quality office pavilions on a speculative basis, construction of high-scale headquarters and provision of amenities.”

Gavin Wyley, managing director of Dandara in Aberdeen, added: “Construction getting underway at City South reaffirms our commitment to delivering much-needed business premises for the north-east economy.”

Dandara, which has its group headquarters on the Isle of Man, has been increasingly active in north-east residential and commercial property markets in recent years.

Commercial projects include sites at Westhill and Portlethen’s Badentoy North business park.
