Aberdeen telecoms firm DF Communications has signed an exclusive agreement with mobile phone giant EE as its exclusive partner in the north-east.

The mobile operator said DF’s ties to the oil and gas sector was particularly attractive as the firm gets the green light to role out EE’s 4G technology to its customers.

DF, which offers mobile and landline services to a range of north-east businesses, said it expects the deal will lead to “significant growth” for the firm.

The business, which currently employs 15 people, expects to add to its team in order to meet increased demand for its services.

Fiona Fraser, managing director at DF Communications, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured this contract with EE and look forward to bringing a wide range of benefits to our customers across the north-east of Scotland.”

Craig Forsyth, DF’s sales director, said: “We want to establish DF Communications as the go-to company for 4G technology in the region.

“It’s an exciting time for the business and this contract should allow us to achieve significant growth.”

David Humble, senior marketing manager at EE, said:

“The company’s understanding of the north-east of Scotland’s business community, particularly the thriving North Sea oil and gas industry, and its track record for customer service were major factors in our decision to partner with them.”

DF, which also supplies handheld tablets, mobile tracking systems and hands-free car kits to its business customers, reported that it reached a turnover of £2.2million in the year to the end of December 2013 – an increase of 16% on its 2012 figure of £1.9million.

The firm said it expects to record turnover of £2.6million this year.
