Budget airline EasyJet has launched its third route from Aberdeen, flying weekly to Geneva.

The new route, which made its maiden flight on Saturday, is expected to be popular with Scottish skiers looking to hit the Swiss ski slopes.

EasyJet will operate the flights once per week on Saturdays throughout the winter using a 156 seater Airbus A319. The airline expects the new route to attract around 3,500 passengers to and from Geneva this winter. Fares start from £40.99 one way.

Ali Gayward, EasyJet’s head of Scotland, said: “As Scotland’s largest airline we are pleased to further strengthen our network at Aberdeen with the addition of Geneva. We believe that this exciting new European route will not only prove a popular addition to our network given its proximity to key European Ski resorts but also with holidaymakers looking for a break at Lake Geneva.

“We are excited to offer this alongside our London flights and the addition of this route takes our total volume of Aberdeen flights up to 40 per week during winter”

Carol Benzie, managing director at Aberdeen International Airport, said: We are delighted that EasyJet have launched this service, providing our customers with great access to European winter slopes. I am confident that it will prove popular amongst the many local skiers in our region and be a great winter break option.”
