North-east caterer Entier is well on course for annual sales of £100million by 2020, its boss said yesterday.

Peter Bruce, celebrating the firm’s seventh year in business, said the 2015/16 annualised total was likely to come it at around £63million.

Expansion of the company beyond its core offshore catering operation and into retailing – it opened its first shop, serving fresh sandwiches, soups and coffees, at the new Prime Four business park at Kingswells, Aberdeen, last November – is expected to help drive the push towards the 2020 target.

The Westhill firm, which is among the exhibitors at Offshore Europe 2015, also has plans for a new offshoot in Australia.

Its 2015/16 sales forecast represents a 53% year-on-year increase for a business recently praised by Food Secretary Richard Lochhead for its commitment to local sourcing.

Mr Bruce, the firm’s chief executive, said: “Our journey from a small north-east start up to one of the largest independent contract catering and support services companies in Scotland has had its challenges.

“However I am proud that our 750-strong team now make millions of meals each year from more than 20 countries worldwide”.

Entier provides services to most of the major players in the offshore oil and gas industry, with clients including Apache, Technip, Rowan, Awilco, Odfjell and McDermott. It currently operates from 56 sites in 23 countries.

Services extend to catering and facilities management for businesses and educational establishments in the Aberdeen area, with more than 500 meals served every day to local nurseries, while the company now has three retail outlets under the Fresh brand.

Mr Bruce said: “We place a strong emphasis on quality of people and products, investing £1million in a purpose built production kitchen and bespoke training facility last year.

“We’ve also strengthened our management team to support new contract wins.”

He added: “Our vision, spirit and passion for what we do will carry us through the next seven years and beyond as we continue to change the landscape and the seascape of our industry.”
