North-east skipper Jimmy Buchan is now able to deliver fresh fish to 95% of the mainland UK following a deal with distributor, Thistle Couriers.

Mr Buchan, who starred on BBC’s Trawlermen series, had previously only traded locally since he launched Skipper’s Choice, an online fresh fish boxed delivery service.

Aberdeen-based Thistle Couriers is part of APC Overnight, the UK’s largest independent parcel network, which means ‘Skipper’s Choice’ customers can get seafood from the Peterhead shore to their door within 24 hours.

Mr Buchan said: “My dream is to offer quality, fresh fish incomparable to any other, and I go fishing for only the best at Peterhead – Europe’s biggest white fish port.

“Now, thanks to having a fast and reliable delivery service with Thistle Couriers, our catch of the day here in Scotland can be enjoyed much further afield.”

Ewan Ferguson, Depot Manager at Thistle Couriers, said: “Working in Aberdeen for local customers such as Jimmy allows them to benefit from our varied delivery knowledge of Scotland, as well as taking advantage of our links with APC Overnight.

“As a result, we’ve been able to take Jimmy’s dream of supplying quality Scottish fish to the nation, and make it into a reality. It’s great to work so closely with another local business, especially one that catches only the best fish around.”
