A supplier of fresh and frozen foods to the catering sector has extended its menu by launching a home delivery service offering the finest Scottish meat and seafood to consumers nationwide.

John King has launched JK Fine Foods following the investment of a six figure sum, creating 10 jobs at its site in Aberdeen to help get the venture up and running.

Sourcing meat from Millers Of Speyside, fresh seafood from Peterhead fish market and wine from Corney & Barrow – currently unavailable in retail stores and supermarkets – JK Fine Foods has pledged to deliver the sort of ingredients used at five-star restaurants to the kitchens of homes anywhere in the mainland UK by the next day

Mr King leads the family-owned catering firm, King Foods, which has a long-standing relationship with Aberdeen’s Marcliffe Hotel and Spa. With a sales reaching almost £10million in the year to the end of February 2015, the firm is one of the largest privately-owned distributors of food to the catering sector in the region.

The new venture has extended its partnership with the five-star Marcliffe by teaming up with the hotel’s head chef Ross Spence who will offer buyers of the firm’s produce and luxury hampers cooking suggestions.

Mr King, said: “It has become more and more difficult for people to enjoy fine dining at home and so the ethos of JK The Home of Fine Food is to combine a luxury range of food and drink such as meat, fish, desserts, wine and nibbles, and make them readily available, fresh to the consumer.

“We want people from all across the UK to be able to source and enjoy Scottish produce as easily as we can here in the north of Scotland and we want all of our customers to be able to create the fine dining experience at home in their own kitchen.”

Stewart Spence, owner of Marcliffe, endorsed the venture as a first for the region: “We have a long standing business relationship with John King and respect his knowledge, expertise and passion in providing quality produce for our hotel and the industry as a whole,” he said.

“This new concept created around JK Fine Foods to bring that same quality to the consumer at home is great and this is a market that hasn’t been tried yet, particularly in the north-east.”
