The managing partner of Scottish law firm Aberdein Considine (AC) has urged leading north-east businesswomen to consider second careers as angel investors.

Jacqueline Law, who leads Aberdeen-based AC, said they could make a huge contribution to supporting emerging businesses.

She was speaking on the eve of the first Investing Women’s Ambition and Growth conference, taking place in Edinburgh today and tomorrow.

Investing Women is Scotland’s first and so far only women’s angel investor organisation, set up by chief executive Jackie Waring to encourage more women to either help or become entrepreneurs.

Aberdeen Considine co-sponsoring the two-day gathering, with Ms Law hosting one of the workshops.

She said: “I know from personal experience as a corporate lawyer that we have many successful females in Aberdeen and the north-east who have excelled in the demanding oil and gas sector.

“A number have realised their assets and may now be looking for a fresh challenge. Aside from any financial resource, they have years of hard-earned experience and vital skills which make them perfect angel material.

“It would be of great benefit to the next generation of entrepreneur if this wealth of talent could be harnessed to nourish and encourage the many exciting young businesses in our midst.”
