A team of executive search specialists have regrouped following the demise of Aberdeen recruitment agency, Maxwell Drummond International (MDI).

Kevin Davidson, Sean Buchan and Jamie Ferguson, all former executives with MDI, have formed Ducatus Partners, a new division of Airswift.

Airswift itself was formed earlier this year through the merger of Salford-based Air Energi and Houston-based Swift Worldwide Resources in January. Both are energy industry specialists each backed by private equity firms LGV Capital and Wellspring Capital.

It comes after MDI and related firm Carlton Resource Solutions ltd were put into compulsory liquidation following a court order in April.

MDI, which was set up in 1994, had an office at Rubislaw Place in Aberdeen in addition to bases in Calgary, Houston, Rio de Janeiro and Singapore.

Mr Davidson, now the managing director of Ducatus Partners, had been chief executive of MDI. He said: “Our approach to business has always been focused on delivering excellence, operating with integrity and ensuring transparency at every stage of our relationship with clients. So we are delighted to be working with Airswift, which is committed to the same values. Working together we’ll continue to deliver outstanding results to our clients, while still retaining the independent customer-focused service which sets both companies apart.”

Airswift said the new division will act independently of the larger company and will specialise in executive search, market intelligence and related consultancy services.

Peter Searle, a former chief executive of Adecco in the UK and Ireland and now chief executive of Airswift, said: “The launch of Ducatus Partners gives our clients a dedicated executive search capability, led by some of the best and most widely regarded individuals in this space. Their sector knowledge and market intelligence means they have access to potential leaders that their rivals cannot hope to match. The team’s experience and expertise, combined with our global footprint and comprehensive package of workforce solutions, gives our clients an unrivalled opportunity to work with a single, trusted supplier.”
