Aberdeen Christmas tree switch-on is tonight: Here’s everything you need to know

It’s a magical week in the Granite City this week.

On Sunday, Aberdeen will be a hive of activity when the Christmas Lights Switch-on Parade and Denis Law Freedom of the City celebrations get underway.

Can’t wait till then to get in the festive mood?

Well head out tonight to watch the city’s Christmas tree light up.

Here’s what you need to know:

WHEN IS IT?

The free event takes place tonight from 7pm.

WHERE IS IT?

The 35-foot Norwegian fir takes pride of place on the Castlegate.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Aberdeen’s  twin town of Stavanger in Norway has once again kindly donated a magnificent Christmas tree to the city.

A carol service will be held at the Castlegate prior to the switch-on where the Lord Provost of Aberdeen and Deputy Mayor of Stavanger will light up the beautiful spruce. Musical entertainment will be provided by Big Noise, Torry.
