Steve Coogan as Alan Partridge.

Steve Coogan will deliver a brand new show Stratagem as his comedy character Alan Partridge when he travels to Aberdeen later this week.

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming show.

When and where will Alan Partridge entertain Aberdeen fans?

Steve Coogan’s Alan Partridge will entertain P&J Live audiences on Friday May 27. Door open at 6pm and the show is expected to start at 8pm and finish around 10pm.

Who is Alan Partridge?

While working on the Radio 4 comedy On the Hour, Steve Coogan created Alan Partridge, a parody of British sports presenters, with the show’s producer Armando Iannucci. Described as a “Little Englander, with right-wing values and poor taste”, the comedy character has been delighting fans all over the UK since 1991.

What is the 2022 show about?

In three decades, Stratagem – written with longtime collaborators, Neil and Rob Gibbons – is Coogan’s first live show where he appears as Alan Partridge throughout.

Following the pandemic, Alan is touring the country with the new show that is described as “a manifesto for the way we can move forward, a roadmap to a better tomorrow, an ABC for the way to be”.

Why does Steve Coogan continue performing as Alan Partridge?

“Alan, to me, is lots of things,” said the actor.

“He’s not a bad man, he’s just not someone I particularly would want to hang out with, honestly.”

“Had I not had some success in other areas, I would have been less inclined to carry on with Alan because it felt like a burden,” he explains. “But, because I do it because I choose to do it, not because I have to, then I can really embrace it and enjoy it.”
