The winners of Grampian Hospitals Art Trust’s first ever annual exhibition prize for new graduates have been announced.
Meg Miller, a graduate of Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, and former student at Moray School of Art UHI in Elgin, Kim Welch, will each now stage their first major exhibition as a result – with their work being admired by thousands of visitors to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Both graduates are multimedia artists and have produced a wide range of pieces for the show.
Taking inspiration from her hobby of bee-keeping, Miss Miller’s work weaves elements of Skye’s rural landscape with the physical construction of beehives to reflect the idea of care and attentiveness.
Miss Welch has created a sounding board and therapeutic space, which welcomes the people to share their opinions by writing on an interactive wall.
Senior manager of Grampian Hospitals Art Trust, Tamsin Greenlaw, said: “We noticed that their work shares the same philosophy and sits in the exhibition really well together.”
She added that the trust is “really excited to be working with both graduates” and is looking forward to the newly-launched exhibition prize benefiting new graduates in the years to come.
The exhibition is free to attend and runs from now until November 17 at The Suttie Arts Space and The Small Gallery at the hospital.
