The top team at NFU Scotland (NFUS) is taking to the road next month for a roadshow across the Highlands and islands.

Members of the union’s presidential team, including president Andrew McCornick and vice-president Martin Kennedy, will visit 12 venues in the region over a five-day period with crofting policy manager Lucy Sumsion.

Mr McCornick said the roadshow would give farmers and crofters the chance to air their views and meet some of the team at NFUS.

He said the union was particularly interested in gathering views on crofting law reform, farm subsidy payment issues, species management and future support post-Brexit.

“Both Martin and myself are looking forward to going on the road to meet existing members and those interested to know more about what the union does,” said Mr McCornick.

“This will be an invaluable opportunity for us to listen and engage with them on the many pressing issues facing Scottish crofters and farmers. The route will allow us to meet those who are the bedrock of Scottish agriculture.”

The roadshow, which is sponsored by Toyota in partnership with Avonline Satellite Broadband, is open to everyone.

It runs from Monday, June 5, to Friday, June 9. Mr McCornick will attend venues on June 8-9 and Mr Kennedy on June 5-7.
