Well-known Ballindalloch farmer Raymond Irvine is among the line-up of judges for next month’s Stirling Bull Sales.
Mr Irvine, who featured in the popular This Farming Life television programme, will judge the Charolais entries at the sales.
No stranger to the show and sales circuit, Raymond runs the Inverlochy herd of Charolais at Tomintoul, with his father, Johnny.
Other judges include Phillip Simmers, Backmuir, Keith, for the Simmentals, and Robert McNee from Over Finlarg, Tealing, near Dundee, for the Limousins.
Aberdeen-Angus will be judged by Kelso breeder Jim Ford, while James Playfair Hannay, who farms at Morebattle Tofts, Kelso, will judge the Beef Shorthorns.
The show of Lincoln Reds will be judged by Lincolnshire breeder Tom Slowen, and Penicuik farmer William Aitken will judge the Salers entries.
John Roberts, group sales director at United Auctions, which runs the sales, said almost 900 cattle were entered for the event.
“Stirling Bull Sales is the biggest bull sale in the UK and it’s this unrivalled selection of high-quality bulls forward for show and sale in a compact schedule that draws pedigree and commercial breeders from the UK and Europe.
“The exhibitors will see packed ringsides of buyers throughout as we welcome an influx of over 12,000 visitors to the city of Stirling for an unmissable two-week event.”
The sales take part in two instalments.
The first week opens with judging of Aberdeen-Angus, Beef Shorthorn and Lincoln Reds on Sunday February 2, followed by a pre-sale show of Limousins on Monday February 3 and sales of all four breeds.
The second week starts with pre-sale shows of Simmental and Salers cattle on Sunday February 16, followed by sales of both breeds on Monday February 17 along with a pre-sale show of Charolais cattle.
The Charolais sale takes place on Tuesday, February 18.
