Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC), which has campuses across Scotland including Aberdeen, is to suspend face-to-face group teaching due to coronavirus.
In a statement, the college said the teaching would end at 6pm on Friday March 20, however its campuses would remain open for one-to-one tutorials, and students would still have access to tutors and lecturers.
“Our halls of residence remain open, and we have special rooms in place should anyone need to self-isolate,” said the college.
“We are also suspending non-essential travel, which includes field trips.”
It told students that tutors would be in touch with them this week to discuss how studies can continue from home.
“Until you are told otherwise, please continue to work towards all assessment and exam dates,” added SRUC.
“We will now be focusing on alternative delivery methods and mechanisms for assessment after Easter and are looking at how we will enable those with practical assessments next term to complete these.”
It said the temporary suspension did not affect post-graduate researchers, however they were asked to “exercise good judgement in terms of cleanliness and look out for your colleagues and friends”.
SRUC added: “This is not a closure of the institution. This is a temporary suspension of group teaching, as part of a phased and managed approach, which will help us to navigate through a difficult and unpredictable situation for SRUC.”
