Families, friends, schoolchildren and local groups are being encouraged to support the Braemar Junior Highland Games 2015, sponsored by Falck Safety Services.
The event, which takes place this Saturday, July 11, will include traditional Highland dancing, piping and drumming, a tug o war, tossing the caber and throwing the hammer.
The weekend is due to kick off with Friday evening playing host to a marquee dinner, auction and entertainment fundraiser, with tables of 10 available for sale at £250 per table or £25 per person. Organisers have also secured Big Country and local support group Bingo Wings along with Paul Anderson for the Saturday evening. The event will conclude with a family fun day on Sunday, July 12.
Colin Leyden, managing director of Falck Safety Services, said: “We have been involved in the Braemar Junior Highland Games for the past three years and are delighted to be the primary sponsor of the event this year, as we believe it is important for both businesses and local groups to support the community and continue the annual tradition.
“It is a great event and a great excuse for families and friends to come together and enjoy a day out, while also supporting the community and encouraging children to become involved in the traditional sports of Scotland from a young age.”
John Kinsella, committee member for the Braemar Junior Highland Games, and one of the founders of the event, which began 11 years ago, said securing a sponsor like Falck Safety Services was vital for the games’ survival.
He said: “We are delighted that Falck has once again come onboard and is the primary sponsor this year. Without financial support, we would find it very difficult for the games to go ahead, so the fact that they have shown their commitment to a community event is warmly welcomed.
“The event has gone from strength to strength each year and has been trailblazing the way for other similar events around the country.
“Organisers from different parts of the country have come to see the Braemar event, to see how it’s done. And we hope to build on this.
“To keep the games successful requires locals and visitors to get involved, and we really hope groups, families and friends will support us in what is set to be a spectacular event.”
The organisers are hoping to build on the success of last year’s event, which saw over 1,500 people attend with a record number of 500 children taking part in the traditional Highland games.

is only £1. These can be purchased at the gate.
All proceeds from Saturday evening’s bar will be donated to the ARCHIE foundation, the main charity beneficiary from event.
