When heading to the beach, you think of shorts and swimwear.
But the Scottish weather doesn’t always mean sunbathing and sea swimming. We caught up with some stylish folk at Aberdeen beach to find out what they’re wearing while enjoying a windy but sunny day.
Emmanuel Akhighe, 22, studying in Aberdeen
What do you do for a living?
I’m a student studying cyber security.
What are you wearing?
My quarter-zip is from Zara, my hat is Sports Direct and the trainers are obviously New Balance.
How would you describe your style?
I’m very go with the flow. If it looks good I keep it on, if it doesn’t, I take it off!
Where do you like to shop?
Mainly sports outlets, like Sports Direct.
Who is your style icon?
I just use my mirror and wear what I like.
Anastasiia Slobozhaninova, 21, from Ukraine
What do you do for a living?
I’m a student at RGU studying digital marketing, and a supervisor at Cognito at the Cross.
What are you wearing?
I have a Diesel bag, my top and jacket are both from Zara, the hoodie is from H&M, my trousers are from Bershka and I’m wearing Nike shoes.
My glasses are from Image and my jewelry is from Pandora or some bits I’ve picked up here and there.
How would you describe your style?
I’m very street-wear inspired. I like to look aesthetic and feel comfortable. My long hair completes my outfit.
Where do you like to shop?
Zara, Bershka and Diesel are my favourites and I love PrettyLittleThing.
Who is your style icon?
I follow another Ukrainian girl called Ilona Shirinova (content creator) on Instagram and like what she wears.
I would also say Madison Beer (singer and influencer) and Lena Nash (wardrobe stylist) as my style icons.
Cristina Dragu, 25, from Romania
What do you do for a living?
I do bar work.
What are you wearing?
My coat and jeans are from Primark, my top is Zara and my leopard print boots are Tu (Sainsbury’s).
How would you describe your style?
It always depends, but I would call it old money.
Where do you like to shop?
TKMaxx has everything.
Who is your style icon?
I don’t have one, I just like what I wear.
Valeriia Tsykalo, 23, from Ukraine
What do you do for a living?
I work retail at Pandora.
What are you wearing?
My floaty cardigan is from Shein, the jeans are Bershka and my shoes are Kohani, a Ukrainian brand. I’m also wearing a long-sleeve top from Gepur which is another brand from Ukraine.
How would you describe your style?
I am casual but elegant. I try to be as feminine and as sexy as possible, when the weather allows! Today it’s quite cold.
Where do you like to shop?
I am a Shein and Zara lover. I’m often in Bershka as well and shop at a lot of Ukrainian brands.
Who is your style icon?
I like Hayley Bieber’s style and also Ilona Shirinova (Ukrainian content creator).
Catalin Dragu, 30, from Romania
What do you do for a living?
I am an intensive care nurse.
What are you wearing?
I got the jacket in TKMaxx but I don’t know the brand. I also don’t know the brand of my jeans though my t-shirt is from Cropp which is a Polish streetwear brand.
How would you describe your style?
It’s definitely chaotic! Sometimes, I’m wearing shirts and looking elegant, sometimes I look very sporty. I like graphic streetwear designs that are comfy.
Where do you like to shop?
I don’t really have places that are my go-to, I like to look around.
Who is your style icon?
I don’t really look up to anyone for style but more for their behaviour and their actions.
Kat Mavromati, 22, studying in Aberdeen
What do you do for a living?
I’m a student – just graduated.
What are you wearing?
The hoodie and the flares are from Oysho. I think my top is Zara and the shoes are Puma.
How would you describe your style?
It’s very chill, very comfy.
Where do you like to shop?
Unfortunately quite a few fast fashion brands like Primark but I love Zara as well.
Who is your style icon?
I’m very easily influenced by Instagram.
