Niall Iain Macdonald is one of the headliners at the Hebridean Book Festival in the Western Isles.
Human nature, determination and endeavour will be the themes of a book festival taking place in the Western Isles later this year.
Faclan: the Hebridean Book Festival will run at An Lanntair from October 30 to November 2.
The programme includes award-winning Julie Brook’s environmental art, adventurer Dan Richards’ journeys to the world’s remote places, artist Margaret Fay Shaw’s island photography, islander Niall Iain Macdonald’s epic solo attempt to row the Atlantic, as well as cult musician Momus who will bring his Unreliable Tour Guide to Stornoway.
An Lanntair’s head of visual arts and literature Roddy Murray said: “The theme this year broaches philosophical questions about our inherent, innate nature, who we are, the environment we inhabit, how we shape it and how it shapes us. In these ‘interesting times’ it takes us inside and outside ourselves.”
Early bird festival passes are available from today, priced £55.
Tickets for individual events will go on sale on September 3, when the full programme for Faclan Fringe and Faclan Òg will also be announced.
