A young Aberdeen musician is among the contenders for a prestigious music prize.
Scott Wallace, 21, who released his debut EP ‘Here Goes Nothing’ last year, is one of 10 artists who have been shortlisted for the BBC Radio Scotland Singer/Songwriter Award.
The performer, who is currently recording new material with Rod Jones of acclaimed Scottish band Idlewild, is now involved in a public vote.
The song will be played on BBC Radio Scotland throughout the voting period, which ends on Friday, September 13 .
The four artists who receive the most votes will perform at a live broadcast event hosted by Deacon Blue’s Ricky Ross.
The award winner will then be selected by a panel of judges including Fran Healy of Travis and promoter Geoff Ellis, the organiser of TRNSMT and previously T in the Park.
The winner will perform at next year’s TRNSMT festival and Mr Wallace has urged people in the north east to get behind his campaign.
Scott said: “Hopefully, I will have support from far and wide – and especially from my fellow Aberdonians.
“I am proud to represent the place where I was raised, attended school and continue to live.
“I hope that my involvement in this award will help to raise the cultural profile of Aberdeen and our vibrant music scene to the rest of Scotland.”
