When does your weekend start?
As soon as I leave the office on a Friday.
Perfect night in?
Takeaway curry, glass of red wine and a good film on TV.
Perfect night out?
An evening at the theatre with friends, with dinner before or after.
Ideal weekend partner?
My sister. We spent many years living a few hundred miles apart and we now live very close to each other, so it’s lovely to be able to spend more time together.
Favourite weekend shopping destination?
Birmingham. I lived there for quite a few years and love the city, and when I go back I always have to spend some time shopping.
Favourite place to walk?
The Amalfi Coast in Italy, with its beautiful little towns and picturesque walks.
Weekend you’d love to live again?
I had an amazing weekend staying in a traditional Japanese guesthouse in Japan a couple of years ago. It had its own hot spring bath, and the food was incredible.
Weekend you’d hate to live again?
It has to be weather and transport related. There were a few occasions when I lived down south and tried to get home to Scotland during the winter, and regretted it.
Perfect Sunday breakfast?
A cooked breakfast in one of the cafes in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh.
Your cure for the Sunday blues?
A walk up Arthur’s Seat, followed by a long, leisurely Sunday lunch with friends.
Your dream weekend (if money was no object)?
Cape Town – socialising on the Waterfront, and a trip down the coast to go whalewatching.
