December is here and ’tis the season to be jolly and generous – so what better way to kick start your festive season than a trip to the movies?
Here we gathered together the top five films you should be looking out for this magical month.
1. Office Christmas Party – December 7
Starring Jennifer Aniston, Jason Bateman and comedian TJ Miller this one promises to be a to be worth a few giggles.
As you may have guessed, the storyline is based around a Christmas party at the office. The party is set up by the branch manager (Miller) in an attempt to bag a big client after his CEO (Aniston) threatens to shut down the branch. But things get a little out of hand…
2. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – December 14
Come on. There’s really not much that needs to be said with this one.
It’s a new film in the Star Wars universe, based before the first film A New Hope as a team tries to steal the plans for the Death Star, starring Felicity Jones, Forest Whitaker and Mads Mikkelsen. Oh, and James Earl Jones as Darth Vader.
3. Passengers – December 21
Another sci-fi adventure here and with an all star cast of Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt and Michael Sheen to boot.
This story follows a spacecraft travelling to a distant planet it is aiming to colonise, with thousands of people on board in a deep sleep for the journey. It all kicks off when a malfunction in the sleep chambers means two passengers are awakened 90 years early…
4. Why Him? – December 26
Now back to the comedies. The stars of Why Him are James Franco and Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, and it’s co-written by Superbad funnyman Jonah Hill.
The storyline pits Franco and Cranston against each other as a dad starts a bitter rivalry with his daughter’s rich boyfriend.
5. Collateral Beauty – December 30
With this cast this film simply cannot be boring. You’ve got Will Smith, Keira Knightley, Kate Winslet, Edward Norton and Helen Mirren all in one touching but light-hearted drama.
Smith plays a man who is deeply affected after experiencing a deep personal tragedy and embarks on an incredible emotional journey to confront his grief – with the help of his colleagues from work.
