There’s plenty going on in the north and north-east this week. Take a look at our highlights.
- Aberdeen Asset Management Universities’ Boat Race
Aberdeen’s rival students will once again go head to head in the 21st Aberdeen Asset Management Universities’ Boat Race.
On Saturday, March 12, Aberdeen University and Robert Gordon University (RGU) will compete against each other in a 3.5km race along the River Dee, determining who takes home the sought after trophy.
The day begins at 1.50pm with the toss for stations, followed by the universities’ 2nd crew race at 2.10pm, alumni race at 2.35pm and media challenge race at 3.40pm. The title event begins at 4.00pm.
2. Stiff Little Fingers
Inverness’s Ironworks will host these 70s punk rockers on Tuesday, March 15, with support from Ricky Warwick and the Fighting Hearts. Doors open 7.30pm.
3. An Inspector Calls
There’s still time to catch the theatrical production of J.B. Priestley’s classic thriller, which is at Aberdeen’s HM Theatre until Saturday, March 12.
4. Tony Law
You’ve seen him on the telly in shows such as Have I Got News For You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Loose Ends and Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe, but now there’s an opportunity to see comedian Tony Law live in Aberdeen on Thursday, March 10, at The Lemon Tree, from 8pm.
5. The Scottish Snowdrop Festival
There are only a few more days left to enjoy The Scottish Snowdrop Festival, which runs until Sunday, March 13, and features almost 60 properties showing off spectacular swaths of snowdrops carpeting their grounds.
Among them are four stunning Highland properties, including 10 Pilmuir Road West, in Forres, Abriachan Garden Nursery, at Loch Ness Side, and Poyntzfield Herb Nursery, on the Black Isle, and Rosehaugh Estate, Avoch, both in Ross-shire.
