A host of award-winning artists will be descending on Inverness later this month, for Nae Ordinary Burns Supper.

The one-night event will welcome a number of special guests ranging from award-winning actors, singers and musicians including, actor, writer and director John Bett and George Drennan, a Scottish theatre performer who has been in the business for almost 25 years.

The annual event will be hosted by singer and actress Fiona Kennedy and will feature a three course dinner and entertainment followed by a ceilidh performed by Scottish folk group The Jacobites.

As well as being a fun night for all, the event will also be raising vital funds for six charities across the north by way of an auction. The money raised will benefit, The Archie Foundation, University of Aberdeen Development Trust and NESMS, as well as Birchwood Highland, FROM Scotland and VSA.

Dawn Cowie, Fundraising Assistant for The ARCHIE Foundation said: ‘We’re thrilled to be benefiting from the auction, and very grateful to everyone involved. The money raised for The ARCHIE Foundation will go to our FreshAir Appeal to transform the outside spaces at the Highland Children’s Unit, making the welcome to the unit as child-friendly as possible and providing canopies in the play space to allow children to play outside whatever the weather.’

A spokeswoman for Birchwood Highland said: “Birchwood Highland is delighted to be one of two established local charities set to benefit from the charity auction at this month’s Nae Ordinary Burns Supper

“Having celebrated our 30th anniversary throughout 2017, it’s great to kick-start the new year with such a unique event.

“Around 1 in 3 people in the Highlands will experience mental ill health at some stage, and any event which helps to raise awareness of mental ill health – particularly in the Highlands – is not only welcomed but deserves recognition.

“Birchwood Highland would like to thank Fiona Kennedy and her team for all their efforts, and we look forward to what is set to be a fantastic evening!”

The event will take place on Friday, January 26 at Macdonald Drumossie Hotel, Inverness.

Other guests scheduled to make an appearance during the evening are James Muldoon, who has appreaded in various shows in the UK including Greece and Footloose; singer Ainsley Hamill and composer Nils Elders.
