The winners of both heats will receive a trophy and the title of Taste of Grampian Rising Star from celebrity chef James Martin at 12.15pm.

Tickets are now on sale for celebrity chef demonstrations at this year’s Taste of Grampian food and drink festival.

James Martin, the former host of popular TV programme, Saturday Kitchen, is the headline act at this year’s festival on Saturday, June 3 at the Thainstone Centre in Inverurie.

He will be joined by renowned wine expert and Saturday Kitchen regular, Susy Atkins, and Scottish chef and P&J columnist Lady Claire Macdonald.

Mr Martin will host two cookery demonstrations using a range of local produce, before teaming up with Ms Atkins for the show’s finale. He will create someone’s ‘Love or Hate’ dish and she will pair wine with each dish.

Tickets for his cookery demonstrations cost £10 each, and tickets for the show finale cost £12.

Ms Atkins will host three drinks masterclasses in the Corney and Barrow Wine Marquee at the show.

The first will focus on sparkling wine, the second on artisan local gin and the third on South American wines.

Tickets for the sparkling wine masterclass cost £15, while tickets for the gin and wine classes cost £12. The price includes samples and tasting notes.

Lady Claire Macdonald’s demonstration is free to attend and supported by event sponsor Specially Selected Pork – the brand is present on meat from Scottish pig farms under quality assurance schemes supported by the Scottish SPCA.

Carol Fowler from Prime Event Management, which organises the event on behalf of Taste of Grampian, urged people to buy their tickets early as places are likely to sell quickly.

She said this year’s event will also feature a new beer festival, which will be staged immediately after the main event from 5pm to 11pm.

It will include an array of outdoor street food, live music, piano bar and an acoustic lounge. Tickets cost £10, or £5 if someone has attended the main event first. It is open to families until 9pm and over-18s only after t.

Entry to the main event, which will also feature the popular Press and Journal/Evening Express Motor Show, is £5 for adults and free for children under the age of 16.

All tickets are available online at www.tasteofgrampian.co.uk.
