We all enjoy a good meal and with the festive season fast approaching we are all getting busier and have less time to make them ourselves.

Thankfully Moray and Nairn has some fantastic places to enjoy good quality food – no matter your tastes – so you will always find some crackin’ grub.

We’ve come up with a list of some places you should book a table at ASAP.

Four Two HQ, Forres

Brand new to the Moray area, based on the fringe of Forres, with it’s doorstep of the A96 and the River Findhorn sweeping past the back door, Four Two HQ with a motoring flavour is perfect for breakfast, lunch or something to satisfy your sweet tooth.

With an amazing range including their signature brunches, hot filled rolls, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, toasties and home-made soup, Four Two HQ is well worth a visit. If you’re in the Forres area, why not have your food delivered direct to you from 9.30am.

They also use a unique blend of local produce including Murdoch Brothers steaks for their monthly steak night as well as cakes made by local companies Gateax Regal and Love Cake, hot chocolate from The Chocolate Place, coffee roasted in the Cairngorms and buffalo reared in Dallas.

It’s a unique setting, perfect for eating and meeting so why not try something a little different and chill out in the company of a Ducati 916 with some great food.

The Red Lion, Forres

The Red Lion is a cracking venue for lunch and dinner situated right in the heart of Forres. They have a menu bursting with local ingredients served up by some good old-fashioned cooking.

When she took over the Red Lion, owner Carrie Custodio, had a simple and grand plan: to create a great place to eat and drink. And we’d say she’s bang on so far.

Her friendly team of staff and their unrelenting love of local food and belief in creating a great experience for guests has resulted in making the Red Lion an absolute must visit.

There’s also live music every Saturday night and real ales by the pint load helping to generate a fantastic atmosphere to eat, drink and enjoy.

The Cawdor Tavern, Cawdor

Situated in the beautiful village of Cawdor, only a hop skip and jump away from the castle, The Cawdor Tavern is a restaurant you simply must try.

Under the ownership of Norman and Christine Sinclair for the last 24 years, it’s a haven for locals and visitors to enjoy quality dining, fine malts, refreshing ales and an excellent wine selection. Plus with a hot roaring fire in the backdrop, the Cawdor Tavern will offer an extremely warm welcome on a cold autumn afternoon or evening.

The restaurant serves up Scottish food with flair using local and fresh ingredients where possible and provides a dining experience that sees guests coming back time after time.

With an award-winning Young Highland chef of the year as part of the team producing stunning food and daily chef specials, you’ll be sure to enjoy a wonderful lunch or dinner at the Cawdor Tavern.

The Duffus Inn, Duffus

Located in the village of Duffus on the outskirts of Elgin, The Duffus Inn Restaurant and Bar is well worth a visit.

It’s a family-run business specialising in great Scottish food serving up a wide variety of great local produce.

With neighbouring villages Burghead and Hopeman nearby plus Buckie along the coast, their seafood offering is fresh and locally caught. But if its meat you’re after then try the prime Scottish steaks and meat from local butchers.

With a menu bursting full of stunning food and delicious treats The Duffus Inn caters for families and large parties – and now offers takeaway from their restaurant menu, as well as outside catering options.

Take advantage of their weekend offers or the Two 4 Twelve deal, but no matter what you have, you won’t regret a visit to The Duffus Inn.
