An obese grandmother who could not work because of her size has lost 18 stone – more than half her body weight.
Tracey Topping, from Northampton, swapped multiple takeaways for meals cooked from scratch and packed with vegetables after joining Slimming World in November 2014.
At her heaviest, the mother-of-four was just under 30st, struggled to walk from the front door to the car and could not fit in the bath.
She has since plummeted to a size 10-12, weighing in at a healthy 11st 6lbs, and got a job as a sales assistant at her local Sainsbury’s supermarket.
The 47-year-old, who has been named Slimming World’s Greatest Loser 2017, said: “Before I wasn’t active at all because I was too big, now I’ve done a Race for Life 10k, I can walk for miles and enjoy playing with my grandchildren.
“My weight loss has completely changed my life – and I love it! I want to show other people who might be feeling the way I was that there is hope and they can lose the weight.”
Ms Topping, who now runs her own Slimming World group, started ballooning in weight after she became pregnant with her first child aged 16.
The turning point came after a meeting at her son’s school when a parent moved seats, complaining that he could not see after she sat in front of him.
She said: “That stayed with me and when we went on holiday soon after I knew I had to lose weight, so I told my husband I was joining Slimming World when we got home.”
