As an assistant architect with land and property firm, Bell Ingram Design, Euan Wright completed numerous projects for the RSPB.
Now, visitors to the RSPB Reserve at the Loch of Strathbeg in Aberdeenshire can see a feature wall created in memory of the talented designer who died following a tragic accident in October 2012, aged 30.
Bell Ingram Design and Euan’s family – in consultation with the RSPB – agreed to construct a wall in his memory next to the reserve, the last project which the talented architect designed before his death.
At the official opening of the refurbished visitor centre, members of his family, Bell Ingram Design and RSPB colleagues attended.
Scott Ramsay, architectural technician at the firm who worked on the project with Euan and then on the feature wall, said: “Euan was a well-liked and valued member of the team, who was hugely committed to design and architecture and we wanted to do something memorable to commemorate his life and work.
“He had worked on the design of a number of projects for the RSPB and, as one of these projects was the Loch of Strathbeg Reserve, this seemed like the perfect setting.”
Euan’s parents enjoyed being part of the official opening celebrations and experiencing the new facilities and look forward to revisiting with their grandchildren in the springtime and showing them the special feature wall, which Uncle Euan’s friends made to remember him.
The Loch of Strathbeg RSPB Reserve – located near Crimond in Aberdeenshire – protects Scotland’s largest dune loch, plus its surrounding wetlands, grassland and woodland, and the wealth of wildlife that lives there.
