Halloween is staying home this year with many families planning parties and activities that don’t break the Covid restrictions.

So that’s more reason than ever to go to town on the home decor front if only to keep things as enjoyable as possible for the little ones.

This year retailers have embraced the idea of stay-at-home parties that limit the guest list to one household, with Asda in particular showing how this can be fun for the whole family.

The promotional video for their Halloween range shows three children apparently going trick-or-treating in their own home, knocking on doors around the house.

At the last door they discover a witch (their mum in costume) and her spooky abode (the living room decked out in Halloween decorations, lanterns and cobwebs).

It’s a good time to get creative and by investing in some top-notch Halloween decorations and adding games, treats and a little imagination this could end up being a Halloween they’ll never forget.

Sainsbury’s have gone for a grown-up look with some of their Halloween accessories, with black and gold disposable tablewear teamed with real glasses and elegant candles.

The overall effect is moody, cosy and ever so slightly romantic.

This dark, mysterious, luxurious theme runs through lots of home collections at the moment with many accessories great for Halloween and beyond.

Lighting is key to creating the right atmosphere and the choices range from fun little pumpkin lanterns and fairy lights to candelabras and luxury scented candles.

So don’t be spooked, plan an at-home Halloween and create your own magic.
