A £50million new business park near Aberdeen has already welcomed its first tenant.
Developer Raiths Farm Properties (RFP) only recently completed the first phase of its 43-acre industrial development, which is just off the main A90 Aberdeen to Dundee trunk road and less than a mile from the Charleston interchange of the new bypass.
Cairnrobin Business Park’s first occupant is global energy rental and services company Hoover Ferguson, which has moved into a £4million facility following a bespoke fit-out.
Another four acres of the park, which is creating more than 500,000sq ft of flexible industrial space, are currently under offer for future development.
Work on a second phase of the development is expected to start next year.
Outline planning permission has been obtained for hotel and leisure, industrial office, storage and distribution uses.
Full planning consent has also been granted for a 100,000sq ft warehousing facility.
RFP managing director John Ray said: “This investment demonstrates our ongoing commitment to the north-east.
“The south of Aberdeen has undergone significant change and regeneration over the past three years and grown to become an extremely attractive commercial location from which to do business.
“It is crucial for the ongoing growth of the region’s economy that we retain existing and attract new company operational headquarters with access to some of the city’s main transport routes.
“Despite the ongoing challenges faced by many Aberdeen based companies as a result of the sustained low oil prices, we have recognised that there is still a huge demand for new premises as businesses seek to reduce the costs associated with operating from multiple, ageing sites which are no longer fit-for-purpose.”
He added: “We are pleased to welcome Hoover Ferguson as our first occupant and confident their new Cairnrobin facility will provide staff with a modern, well-connected workplace, designed to meet their future needs.”
Hoover Ferguson specialises in cargo carrying units for the offshore industry, including containers, skips, baskets and slings for packing and lifting exploration and production equipment.
Its new site comprises a workshop, tank cleaning facility and associated office building, together housing more than 25 staff.
Andy Drummond, director of Hoover Ferguson’s Aberdeen-based container solutions business, said: “Demand for our services is forecasted to rise significantly over the next five years and the Cairnrobin facility will allow us to provide a broad range of industry-specific products and services to cater to our growing customer base.”
Raiths has appointed property agents CBRE and Savills to market the business park.
