A former Aberdeen bakery could be turned into flats, if new plans are approved.
Chalmers Bakery, which has been operating in the north-east since 1956, sold off one of its shops on Auchmill Road in Bucksburn several years ago.
The 10,000sq ft property has now been purchased by developer Cater Group.
The Aberdeen-headquartered firm is preparing to submit a planning application to turn the building into flats.
Its proposals are yet to be submitted to Aberdeen City Council for approval, but the developer has described them as “unique”.
Glen Smith, Cater Group client executive, said: “We are delighted to have secured another site in Aberdeen.
“We have developments across Scotland and the UK, but it’s always great to secure sites closer to home, and a stone’s throw away from our Aberdeen office on Great Northern Road.
“Proposals for the new flatted development look exciting, I think it will be a unique building.
“These will be submitted for planning in the very near future.”
Chalmers Bakery sold off a number of its sites in 2018, including its head office and shops on Castle Street and George Street.
The family-run business operates seven days a week at locations across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
It also has a branch in Ballater and holds a royal warrant, having often served baked goods to the Queen at her Balmoral estate.
