Barratt Homes helps local children ‘Bee’ safe

Barratt Homes is helping keep some of Aberdeen’s youngest residents safe, kitting out Danestone Community Centre’s entire Busy Bees Playgroup with high-visibility jackets.

With the playgroup based near a traffic hot spot, the housebuilder provided the fluorescent gear to make it safer for the group to go out walking and enjoy the outdoors, and also presented the children with £150 worth of book tokens.

This partnership is part of several community activities taking place across Scotland as part of the firm’s Pride of Place campaign, which aims to support communities surrounding Barratt Homes’ housing developments in Scotland.

Mike Cowie, sales director for Barratt North Scotland, said: “With work at our new Burnside @ Riverside Quarter development near Mugiemoss Road progressing well, we are keen to engage positively with the local community.

“As a housebuilder, safety is our top priority so contributing towards the wellbeing of the Busy Bees was a natural choice, particularly as walking conditions grow darker and days shorter.”

Upon completion, the Riverside Quarter development will provide up to 900 new homes, including much needed affordable properties.

Work is under way on the first phase, called Burnside @ Riverside Quarter, which will comprise 288 homes as well as providing significant landscaped and amenity areas.
