Buy a prime roof terrace view of Stonehaven’s ancient fire balls spectacular – and a lovely home too

The spectacular Fire Balls display will once again take place in Stonehaven tomorrow night as thousands descend on the town to ring in the new year.

It can sometimes be a case of getting in early to get a good view of the show – but not for the future owners of this lovely home.

The Granary is a remarkable four storey converted Victorian grain warehouse which has a great location in the town within the listed harbour.

As well as a sitting room with open plan dining room, six bedrooms, two family bathrooms, attic games room and triple garage, it also comes with a roof terrace.

It’s a great spot to enjoy stunning views of the surrounding area – and get a front row seat for the annual Fire Balls festivities.

Imaginatively converted by the current owners in the late 1970s, this is a building that has retained some wonderful original features including exposed stone walls and characterful beams as well as acquiring some carefully sourced reclaimed elements such as balustrades and staircase spindles from Marischal College in Aberdeen, an impressive stone fireplace, wood panelling and many doors, all of which fit beautifully with the maritime style architectural interior.

There are some more contemporary touches, such as an extra large picture window on the first floor.

Savills director Fiona Gormley said: “This is a property with huge character, in which the love and dedication of the current owners really shines through.

“The coveted harbourside location, phenomenal sea views, commercial potential of the gallery/workshop/retail space and sense of space and light, along with the period detail and use of natural materials all raise this property out of the mainstream and into the very special category.

“Stonehaven is a great place to live all year round with great schools and a fabulous setting. However this particular property really comes in to its own at this time of year – the roof terrace view of the famous fireballs festival at Hogmanay really is something to behold.”.

It could be yours for offers over £550,000.
