Urquhart Castle, which sits proudly on the shores of Loch Ness, is one of Scotland’s most iconic buildings.

Last year it attracted more than half a million visitors and was the third most visited staffed Historic Environment Scotland site across the nation.

It’s a view visitors can’t get enough of, but one that the new owners of one particular Highland house can look forward to enjoying free of charge, every day.

Moonrakers sits within the hamlet of Drumbuie, near Drumnadrochit, and thanks to its elevated position, enjoys superb views over the countryside, loch and castle.

A large, well-presented detached house, it was built around 1995 and has accommodation and a layout that would suit a number of buyers.

Entrance is via a vestibule which in turn leads to a spacious reception hallway with rooms located off it.

The lounge, with a nice feature fireplace, is at the front of the house and has space for a table and chairs as well as lounge furniture.

From here, a sliding patio door leads to the front garden.

The dining kitchen is also large and comes with a host of extras including a walk-in pantry, an airing cupboard and a drying cupboard.

Just off the kitchen there’s a utility room complete with storage, a sink and space for white goods.

Further storage can be found in the rear hall which also has a WC and offers access to the side of the house and workshop/garage.

The master bedroom has storage units and an en suite bathroom with stylish corner bath and walk-in shower.

There’s a further good-sized bedroom and a study/bedroom and once more these have handy storage cupboards.

Completing the accommodation is a family bathroom with bath and walk-in shower.

Outside, there’s a gated driveway with plenty of parking space for several vehicles, a summerhouse with electric heating and lighting and a storage shed.

The gardens are well established and highlights include a pond and colourful plant and shrub borders.

On the market at offers over £360,000, it’s just a short drive from here to the village of Drumnadrochit, which has a good number of amenities including primary and secondary schooling, restaurants, a medical practice and shops.
