Chance to help shape life on an island

One of the most prominent collection of buildings on the Isle of Raasay could soon be enjoying a new lease of life.

There’s an array of stone buildings on offer at Raasay Home Farm Steading, which have the potential to be transformed into domestic or commercial properties.

The main set of steading buildings, built around 1843 as the home farm buildings for Raasay House, is Category B listed and set around a courtyard which has as a feature a four-faced clock tower set on its own loft.

Separate kennels, which previously had planning consent for conversion to two houses, and a barn are included in the asking price of offers over £200,000.

Further development space is provided in a flat, open site adjacent to the steadings where new buildings, sympathetic to the existing structures, could be located, subject to planning consent.

Further amenity ground lies to the south of that space and to the east of the site generally and main services are on site.

Nestling to the east of the Isle of Skye, Raasay has a population of about 150. It has its own primary school and community shop and has an excellent ferry service to Sconser several times a day, travelling in style on the world’s first open seagoing hybrid engine passenger ferry.

Whoever buys these buildings has a genuine opportunity to create new space for either residential, mixed use or commercial units, which could shape and influence economic opportunities on the island for generations to come.
