A report by PricewaterhouseCoopers and think-tank Demos found the Granite City scored highly in a number of categories, including jobs, health, income, house prices and travel time.
On top of that, the city has a bustling night life, independent cafes and shops with something for everyone and plenty of leisure facilities including HM Theatre and The Tivoli.
