Aston Martin has revealed a limited-run Vanquish S inspired by the RAF’s legendary aerobatics division, the Red Arrows.

Commissioned by Aston Martin Cambridge and built by Q, the luxury car maker’s bespoke division, the GT car has been given a Red Arrows-inspired makeover, with just 10 being built.

The exterior is painted in a new colour called Eclat Red, named after the squadron’s motto ‘Eclat’, which means ‘brilliance’ or ‘excellence’ in French.

Inside, there are Red Arrows and RAF tributes such as the unit’s nine-aircraft logo, which is embroidered into the chair backs.

The Vanquish S remains unchanged beneath the metal. Under the bonnet sits a naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 engine that makes 592bhp, which results in a 0-60mph sprint of just 3.3 seconds.

Nine of the special models will be sold to customers to reflect the nine-aircraft displays, while the 10th will be gifted to the RAF Benevolent Fund. It will be given away to the winner of a raffle, with ticket sales raising funds for the charity that supports service personnel and their families.

The Red Arrows were formed in 1964 as the RAF’s official aerobatic team and have featured nine pilots since 1966. Based at RAF Scrampton in Lincolnshire, the team have performed more than 4,800 times across the globe.
