A group of animal lovers will unite this weekend to show that a greyhound is for life – not just for the races.
The Great British Greyhound Walk is an annual event that brings together Greyhounds, Lurchers, other sighthounds and their owners to raise awareness and show members of the public what wonderful pets they make.
This year’s walk will be held at Crathes Castle, near Banchory, on Sunday at 11am.
Participants will head along a woodland walk, followed by a picnic.
The event will also promote local re-homing organisation Give a Greyhound a Home (Gagah).
The charity was founded by a group of volunteers at Methlick in 1999, and has since rehomed more than 1,400 dogs, many of which would otherwise have been destroyed.
Spokesman Alfie Bett said: “We would be delighted to accept any donations made on the day.
“These will go straight to Gagah, helping us to save and rehabilitate more Greyhounds.”
