We often forget the fun that is available closer to home and some of our major cities have nightlife and shopping to rival many of their European counterparts.

Scotland has seven delightful cities; Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Perth, Stirling, and Glasgow and each of them steeped in history with fascinating stories to tell yet they all have embraced the needs of modern day visitors and continue to attract tourists all year round.

Edinburgh is a joy to visit any time of year and with great rail links you could be here in a couple of hours or less depending on your starting point but some rail services from Aberdeen will have you in the heart of Midlothian in a couple of hours or so.

Despite being a busy city, Edinburgh has with plenty of open spaces to chill and enjoy the vibe.

On a fine day, simply relax in Princes Street Gardens and watch the world go by…you won’t be alone!

If you’re in need of upmarket retail therapy and trendy eateries, look no further than the luxury shops and plush bars and restaurants in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town.

George Street has a tempting choice of elegant places to eat and drink, notably The Dome, Le Monde and Tigerlily.

The city’s great venues have an amazing line up of entertainment so why not make a night of it by taking in a live show or concert?

There’s always plenty going on for culture vultures and lovers of live music.

One show not to be missed is Tonight…From The West End, which happens to be playing in Glasgow, Dundee and Edinburgh this April.
